You Cannot Keep Shrinking and Call It Healing

At some point, you have to stop calling survival healing. Yes, you made it through. You learned how to function with the disappointment. You figured out how to smile while carrying the weight. You became productive while broken, dependable while depleted, and strong while secretly wondering how much longer you could keep holding everything together.

And because you didn’t fall apart publicly, everybody assumed you were okay. Maybe you did too. But surviving something and healing from it are not the same thing.

Healing requires you to meet yourself again!

Not the version of you that learned how to accommodate everybody.

Not the version that became smaller so other people wouldn’t feel threatened.

Not the version that stopped speaking because being silent kept the peace.

Not the version that accepted less because somewhere along the journey you started questioning whether you deserved more.

You!

The woman underneath the responsibilities, titles, disappointments, heartbreaks, expectations, mistakes and survival mechanisms. She’s still there. And she’s ready to emerge.

YOU HAVE OUTGROWN SOME THINGS

There is nothing wrong with admitting that what once fit you doesn’t fit anymore. You’ve grown. Your boundaries are different. Your desires are different. Your capacity is different. Your relationship with yourself is different. And perhaps the greatest evidence of your healing is that you can no longer comfortably abandon yourself just to remain connected to other people. That’s growth.

You don’t have to shrink to be chosen.

You don’t have to silence yourself to be loved.

You don’t have to betray your boundaries to prove you’re a good person.

You don’t have to carry everyone to prove you’re strong.

And you certainly don’t have to remain who you were simply because that’s the version of you everybody else became comfortable with.

You are allowed to change.

You are allowed to heal.

You are allowed to rediscover yourself.

You are allowed to want more.

You are allowed to become HER.

STOP WAITING FOR PERMISSION TO BECOME. Maybe you’ve been waiting for everything to make sense before you move.

Waiting until you’re completely healed.

Waiting until you’re more confident.

Waiting until everybody understands.

Waiting until you have the entire blueprint.

But what if becoming doesn’t happen after you have all the answers? What if becoming happens because you finally decide to move without them? There is a woman on the other side of your YES who has been waiting for you.

She’s not perfect.

She’s whole.

She’s not fearless.

She’s courageous.

She doesn’t have every answer.

She’s simply no longer willing to allow uncertainty to keep her imprisoned in familiarity.

She has decided: I will not die inside a version of myself I have already outgrown.

THIS IS YOUR EMERGENCE

There comes a moment when healing has to become movement. When rediscovery has to become decision. When revelation has to become action. When you stop saying, “One day…” and decide: Why not now?
